Battery Junction Box or Engine Fuse Box removal

Hello all,

I have a RHD 2007 FL2 SE and I am looking to remove the battery Junction box or it is sometimes called the engine fuse box to check the connections underneath.

Does anyone have an easy guide on doing this or can point me in the right direction?

Why do you want to remove the BJB? Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

Hello,

I have determined that the wire to energise relay 5 and so give power to the blend motors is broken somewhere. So I want to take the BJB out so I can see it's underneath to determine if the connector to the relay has come off.

If not then I can run another wire from the CJB to this point to energise the motors, which should fix the problem, fingers crossed! Whistle

Hello,

I have found out how to do this, I got a £25 one of The Bay to practise on, that's why you can see a lot of the cables have been cut.

First you need to remove the side cover which exposes the big vertical fuses down the side.

There are then three clips which are internal to the fuse box, I'm trying to point at them in these pictures:







You can see them in-situ in this picture:





The is a final external clip which is below the 100A fuse, I'm pointing at it with my screwdriver:




The internals then come out and the black plastic lower surround stays in place.

I hope this helps others.

Hello,

Just an update on this procedure. I noticed on my fuse box there is an extra set of fuses and realsy, as shown below;




With the orientation of this photo there are to the right of the picture and on the car towards the front.

You need to remove this first before you can get to the main fuses. You need to remove the flanged nut which it the right hand side one of the photo (The one nearest the front of the car) They are then a few clips to push (just like the main fuse board) you can then wiggle it up and away. This then allows the main one to be removed.




Obviously ensure you have disconnected the battery first and waiting about an hour to ensure any stored charge has had time to discharge.

As you can see I removed my battery to give me more room.
