Satnav Initialisation problem

Hi guys,
My MY13 suddenly started showing this:

If you hit 'cancel' everything works but the navigation. Anyone know:
a)how to fix it
b) Why does the navigation need anything from Gracenotes?

Thanks 138,000 miles & counting

Strange as I would expect your vehicle to have a hard drive set up.? FL2 SD4 XS 2013 Orkney Grey

I looked in the secret menu and didn’t find any reset of the nav system. Not tried disconnecting the battery etc yet. 138,000 miles & counting

I tried googling and got a hit.

This shows your screen on a LR4 but no resolution.

A Freelander owner has a post in that thread saying he bought a disc but it did not solve the problem.

I have exactly the same error with my 2014 Freelander. LR service did not know what could cause this and said I must buy the update before they could investigate. I could install it myself if follow instructions carefully. I did buy it for £150, tried to install and it simply states "Navigation software initialising please wait"
I waited for four hours...with engine running as instructed. Unable to use system but OK to drive car and stop/start etc.
I drove 40 miles to LR distributor where I bought the car. LR technician said it should work if I followed his instructions. It did not and they could not think what was wrong. (£160/hr plus tax to investigate...visions of costs mounting up here!
They have agreed to ask software help line to offer assistance...these will not talk directly to an enduser customer directly!!!
I drove 40 miles back home.
I am awaiting their advice.
Balance of advantage:
LR Plus £150...customer -£150..and still have the same problem.
Since loads of people have described this I must assume LR are aware, despite my distributor unaware of it and unable to cure the problem...

Started reading down this list of results, but not sure yet if I can see the DIY solution.

Good morning, unfortunately your hard disk inside the unit is damaged, it can no longer be read and navigation or any loaded CDs will not work, I have copies of the disk and I have media such as SD or SSD m.2 with adapter.

hello, in Italy we are able to update the maps of the 2013 restyling, but I must have access to the internal hard drive.

Update:
Got a used navigation unit (not the screen) fitted it and it works perfectly. For some reason it won’t let me update the maps, but it works ok. 138,000 miles & counting
