Oil pressure gauge

Has anyone fitted an oil pressure gauge to the car.
Just wondering as I know there's a sensor there but would like a pressure gauge there as well.
It would be a digital(not mechanical) gauge.
Thanks

Not a common instrument in modern cars, it's all some owners can do to check and put oil in their cars never mind monitor the stuff that's in there!
Got one in my old Mini.

Too true Bob. Cant recall whether the mini's over here had the oil gauge in them or not.
Rode in quite a few of them when I was a youngster. Really liked the cooper s model. Very Happy

Why not get an obd2 device then monitor oil pressure and much more through an app on your phone?

I was under the impression there wasn't a oil pressure sensor... as per this discussion:

Be great if that's wrong though!

Basic Minis only had the central speedo / fuel guage, deluxe models and all Coopers/S's had the oval binnacle with the 3 gauges as above. 👍 Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

And judging by the "Just rolled in" episodes on youtube many Americans can't even do that right and drive around in death traps. Thank god for our annual MOT inspections. Jules

And the owner always declines repairs.

As for the oil pressure gauge. I can't really see much point on this engine. It's not known for bearing issues, or low oil pressure. I've seen how little wear there was on my big end bearings at 120k miles, they measured on the minimum clearance, so no detected wear.
Just change the oil on time, and enjoy driving it. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The replacement for the SE.

According to the JLR manual:
Oil pressure should be 1.6bar at 1750 rpm rising to 3.1bar at 4000rpm (p752)
There is a oil level/temperature sensor (p775) for vehicles with DPF

There is a engine oil pressure sensor (p1238) but I dont know if its for measuring continuous oil pressure or just for a low pressure warning.. Jules

Thanks Jules for the page numbers.

I notice that just below on p2346 there is a very good table of Engine Related Symptoms, well worth a look at.

The Repair Manual never ceases to amaze me with it's wealth of information.

(I have Repair Manual on my PC as a Short Cut from the Desktop Screen, I know a bit nerdish)

PS As far as I remember the Mini shared it's Engine Oil with the Transmission and Gearbox, and used (leaked?) oil like a drain. You needed a dial to check if you had any oil. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)
