Not so on mine everything works as it should, you can use it as standalone as well and also addd a sim card if you so wish.

You don't have a meridian. But here is carplay specifically for the meridian, preserving the standard screen and standard multimedia system. //t.me/LRClan

I received a parcel with carplay for clients. If you are interested, ask questions.

Sounds promising. Only question is about what the DIP switches need to be set to? Installatiion instructions are minimal. Any tips? Thx.

Just installed one of these.

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006959618796.html

Pretty simple, plug and play, took an hour or so. Original nav no longer available (see photo), but Android Auto fully functional with Google maps, Spotify, etc. Hey Google also works. Original interface also still available, and functional (except for navigation). Reversing camera works in Android Auto and original. Just press Nav to access Android Auto (or Carplay).

I've bought one of the "carabc" ones from AliExpress, and took it to an auto/audio electrician to fit it. He's got it all plugged in, but when pressing the "Nav" button, the display goes dark.

I can change the volume and see the overlay appear, so it mustn't be getting the signal from the box.

Was there anything special needed when fitting yours? Everything else is still functional, radio, parking sensors etc.

Yes, everything else works as before, including radio etc. Only change is that Nav button brings up display of new module where you select Android Auto or Carplay and a few other things, like USB media player and screen mirroring.

Have you tried the WhatsApp support?

Yep. No response to the number listed on the printed manual(+86 137 9449 0273) so I found a newer number on their Facebook support group (+86 198 0676 1487) and no response on that yet either.

I was wondering if you changed any of the dip switches on the box?

I waited a day or so for WhatsApp response.

All dipswitches OFF.

Is the LVDS cable hooked up correctly? Original one from head unit is now redundant. New one from new module to screen is all that is required. This wasn't obvious in the 'instructions'.

I'll mention the LVDS cable on Monday 👍🏻 I removed the middle speaker grill, and the plastic cover below the screen, and the 6 torx bolts allow me to release the buttons/screen etc. forwards.

I didn't remove anything else (didn't feel comfortable) but from what I could see, the blue LVDS cable plugged into the carabc unit, has a different cable type to the equivalent looking blue cable going into the head unit, so I'm guessing it's not going direct, and instead been wired ‘through’ the original unit? I might be talking absolute rubbish, I don't really know what I'm looking at. I didn't unplug anything and there's not enough space to trace where the cable actual goes.

But I'll definitely mention it to my guy on Monday though as it sounds plausible.

Not sure how the new plug-in wiring loom is wired, but the original LVDS cable (originally from the head unit to the display) should be unplugged from the head unit and left unplugged. Seems the new wiring bypasses the LVDS from the head unit; the only LVDS cable required is from the new module (with the different plug type) to the display.
