Question on Alpine 9 speaker system

Hi from New York!

Left a deposit on LR2 (USA)/ Freelander 2 -got just the climate pack, no Navigation, because I don't need Navigation (do a lot of driving but all local), and you can't get upgraded radio here in US w/o NAV.

Did anyone upgraded their 9-speaker system with aftermarket components? If you did, could you describe what you have done, and if you liked the sound after upgrade.

Also, the salesman told me that the service dept. "does not like aftermarket radios at all" -is that true in UK?

Thanks to all

Hi to m1964 and New York!!,

I have the 14 speaker Dolby on mine so cannot help with regards your upgrade question...however your dealer probably does not like after market upgrades because they are better value, with better equipment and installed by experts which he does not profit from. The dealers I believe are not electronic engineers, so if you have special requirements, if it is not a true factory installed option consider your local ICE specialist. My headrest DVD screens were a dealer fitted factory option (factory don't fit them the dealers do). It still isn't working properly after five repairs so I am getting an ICE specilaist to fit one instead.

Don't be too guided by the dealers, they sell and service our cars, they are not In-Car Entertainment experts.

Thanks - I just want to know if the dealers will try to blame ignition on some other non-audio problems on aftermarket install.

Probably Neutral Its is always somebody elses fault and I fully understand your concerns. I will risk it with the DVD screens it is up to you to decide if you are happy to accept the ICE specialists advice
