Knowing what HU you already have would be helpful. I thought all HUs could play CDs many could also play CDs loaded MP3 encoded music, mine definitely can. DAB was an option on the higher specification HUs, but not on the lower spec unit. As to replacement, it depends on the vehicle, as the HU is used for other functions like the RTC and PDC sound outputs. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car. 2009 Rimini Red SE TD4. If it has a 6 disc changer, the DAB was an option. Replacement isn't straightforward, as the HU is used by several other modules in the vehicle like the PDC system, Ipack and CJB for time keeping functions. Additionally there's a power amplifier in the boot, which drives the speakers, which won't work with anything other than the factory HU.

There used to be DAB adapters which converted the DAB signal to an FM signal which the HU could then pick up, this may be a simple way to achieve what you are looking for.

I used to have a Pure Highway In Car DAB 400. It was really very good. Gave really good DAB reception, bluetooth audio from a mobile and also handsfree calling. Just plugs into the aux in of the car. FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - so many issues
