Thanks npinks. I did have a look at his website but it does not list SLX Longtec as being stocked, but, as you suggest I'll PM him and see what he says.

Probably not much use to you in the UK, but here in Australia the specified 0W-30 oil is not available on a retail basis and, as far as I have been able to find out, Land Rover dealers do not use it in servicing. My supplying dealership in Melbourne carried out the first service on my Freelander (6000miles in Australia) and used Castrol Magnatec 10W-40 oil. Land Rover Australia say that this oil is OK and cannot explain why Land Rover UK specify an oil that we can't get. In any event, that is what the dealer has used and LR OK'd, so I wouldn't expect any warranty problems. Odd though. |

DT, you may use any Motor oil which complies with ACEA A 5. If Castrol is not available you may safely use MOBIL 1 0W40 (or 5W40, if available). In Australia different motor oils are required due to the extreme climatic conditions (heat).
