Assume you are actually moving the gear selector over to the left while in neutral in order to put it into Sport/Command shift mode?
If so and it's not working, remove the gaiter to see if something is physically preventing the selector from moving.
Failing that I'd suggest it's an electrical position switch issue and a code reader is the next port of call. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

What is showing on the info screen.

Move stick from D into S/M. Should show Sport in small letters, then move the stick forward or backward to select manual gear.

Command Shift Select and the selected gear number should show on the info screen.

Gear lever moves into sport and moves forward and backwards okay and no indication of of sports in the display.
Should I need a diagnostic tool does anyone have a suggestion of a scanner that would be able to scan the sensor/TCM.
