Diesel fumes in the cabin

I have a FRLR model 09 TD 2.2. I noticed recently a heavy smell of diesel fumes in the cabin when I am driving for a while in an ascent and the engine is hot. The technician said it could originate from the EGR valve and If I want a temporary solution I could try changing the COVER - ENGINE COMPARTMENT and the INSULATOR - DASH PANEL. However, the cost of changing these parts is not negligible and I would like to hear opinions about the possible cause and suggested remedy for this problem.

Make sure your battery cover is fitted correctly and the seals are in tact.

My 59 plate XS filled the cabin with diesel fumes... turned out to be a leaking injector.
