Engine replacement- all the same?

Hi, FL2 My 2013 with likely failed engine.

Can I drop in ANY 2.2 TD4 engine or do they differ by year?

Seemingly more older ones about

Many thanks

There are differences to between different DW12s, depending on the original vehicle it was installed in. However an engine from a Freelander is a direct swap. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.
2009 Rimini Red SE TD4. Gone.
2006 Tonga Green i6 HSE. Gone.
Audi A5 convertible, my daily driver.
1972 Hillman Avenger GT, the project.

Don't forget that pre 2011 models didn't have a DPF so probably quite a few subtle differences with injectors, air intake and ECU and mapping etc to get the emissions right. If you are going to replace the engine I would go for something as near as possible to the one coming out. Good luck. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
5 x FL2 4 manual + 1 auto

Yes this has a DPF, will change anything else over that I need to. Didn't know if basic engine was different, as DPF after the engine.

One other thing the post 2013 cars were different to the earlier models as they incorporated a lot of stuff from the Evoque as the FL2 was being phased out and common systems (mechanical and electrical) were included in the manufacturing process. I take it you are talking about a manual gearbox? 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

you can change it to any one. The only thing is to put your old attachments, a turbine and candles and injectors
