Are you sure it’s the dpf and not the pipes leading to the pressure sensor that are blocked or otherwise faulty?

My nephew had 3 dpf failures in his brand new Evoke in the first 10k. Land rover replaced 2 under warranty with no issue. The third time he had to fight as they told him he was not using the car correctly ( short journeys). Anyway third dpf replaced AND a software update, all was well until he wrote the car off last October with around 48k mikes. As far as I know, same engine as our Freelander 2's. Perhaps enquire if an update is available?

Not using the car correctly ? I would tel LR to sod off it’s up to the individual how the car is used so make you’re product fit for service or say at the point of sale if you’re just using this for shopping etc it’s not for you.

They are, my apologies. Rarely hear any about any dmf failures but hear almost constantly about problems with dpf!

I couldn't agree more. I buy my cars outright, allbeit second hand. In this " must have a new car on lease / Pcp / etc" world, because Steve at no 10 had one ( no offence to any Steve's out there! ), as you (from info via my nephew) do not actually own the car, the waters become somewhat muddy, and you end up chasing your tail.
The car my nephew had was on lease. He ended up getting shafted on the insurance, as he didn't read the small print, and only found out (!!!!) after the car was written off, that the insurance (Aviva), would only deal with the lease company, not my nephew, which left him severely out of pocket, as the claim was settled between themselves, regardless of any input from my nephew. Yes he is young and inexperienced. I have directed him towards the insurance ombudsmen. Time will tell, I am only his uncle and I obviously do not understand the modern world, buying my cars outright. Who could possibly afford to do that?

All I can say is the first replacement was done in August 2019 Mileage 86677. The 4th replacement has failed February 2024 Mileage 98731.
LR Transmission Dept have been involved in checking peripheral component measurements.
One of the failed clutch and DMF kits was sent back to LuK there was no response.
The work has been carried out by LR specialists .
The 3rd replacement DMF is being stripped down to investigate what may have failed to produce the problem.

I'd suggest there's an issue with the engine which is working the DMF harder than it was designed. Maybe the engine has low compression on one cylinder, causing the power pulses to be uneven. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

Just to clarify the issue appears to be with repeated failures of clutch/duel mass flywheel and not the diesel particulate filter. Thumbs Up

The 3rd DMF has now been taken apart to expose the spacer which keeps the two sections of the DMF apart at the prescribed distance. This spacer is plastic and has broken up allowing the two parts to come together which has created a wear mark around the crankshaft facing part of the flywheel,
the end of the spiders can be seen as well as the springs, which appear to be ok but further sections have to be remover to be able to check more precisely.[/list]
