Just got a FL2 and would like to know what auto gear box oil I need, I don’t know if I have a first or second gen box, some say first gen is five speed and second gen is six speed.

five speed equals 3309 spec and second gen equals 3324 spec.

My vehicle is 2011 facelift sd4 HSE.

your advice would be appreciated.

Your 2011 will have the later box which needs the 3324, also known as Nippon AW-1. (LR p/n LR022460)

All the autos are 6 speed, the Freelander 1 auto was a 5 speed and that has its own unique spec oil...

Unless you have a record of them being done, I'd definately consider changing all the various oils used in the driveline...

I have only had the FL2 for a couple of days and the service idicates the auto oil was changed 44000 miles ago but doesn’t say what spec was used and thought that this would be my first of the oils to change.
Not knowing what oil is in there and using the dump and fill method can 3324 be used athough a different spec may still be in there.
