Bloody Fuel Gauge Issue Again

So this is really annoying me.
Had the issue with the fuel gauge --- again!!!

So a few years ago replaced the whole fuel tank - fuel gauge worked fine for a bit, then the problem returns - gauge not reading right. Then it sorts its life out and works perfectly for the 16 months,

Wife borrows the car and next the car is showing 1/4 of a tank and I know its absolutly brimmed.
The light even comes on and then off again and then returns to 1/4 tanks full.

My question to you folks is - will this actually cause an issue? Apart from of course running out of fuel.
So as long as I keep an eye on the mileage done and refuel at around 300 mile mark will I be ok?
The reason I ask and not get it fixed is that I'm off the the alps next week and will not be able to get it fixed.
Whats folks thoughts?

Not sure if it's any help but when me and my partner were at a pay and play site having some fun in our Freelander 2, we were shocked to see we had somehow used half a tank of fuel. We filled it up and only got about £10 in before it was full. Got in and it was still reading half.

Anyway long story short we sent an email to a Freelander Specialist and they replied with the following...

"It sounds like the float on one side of the tank is stuck. It would be interesting to see if it reads correctly when the tank is under half full. Unfortunately replacing these requires dropping the fuel tank. It could be worth waiting to see if it manages to unstick itself."

Low and behold, about a week or two later the fuel gauge starting reading correctly again and has been fine ever since. Smile https://www.youtube.com/@scottandalana4x4

There is an issue with the original wiring inside the fuel tank which leads to the sender showing only quarter of a tank or less.
Plenty of posts on here regarding the fix, but you do have to remove the tank.
As for just leaving it alone, that depends on how much fuel the car thinks there is, not what is actually in the tank.
If it's reading close to empty the car will shut down to prevent air or debris from the tank reaching the engine. Now at the point when I learn something new something old is lost out the other side !
Now retired so it doesn't matter anymore.
Freelander now gone.
