When I see the queues at the car wash places I don’t think many people even wash their cars themselves nowadays. |

A few of my neighbours do bits on their own cars from time to time and I'll often wander over for a quick chat, but not for too long as it's normally when I'm out tinkering with one of ours... |

I think the only ones I see working on cars in drive’s are the mobile vans. There was a tyre van working this week down the road |

I think this is because modern vehicles with no space under the bonnet and complicated electrickery make it near impossible to do anything more than basic servicing. 50 yrs ago when we had much simpler more DIY friendly cars more owners did more also cars fitted in garages in those days so you could work on them in comfort, how many owners put their cars in a garage overnight now? very few they don't fit or are too lazy if they did. I keep my MGB in my garage and can open the doors and walk around it. I am the only person in my locality that washes my vehicles some neighbours seem to think I am not normal !!! 2013 FL2 XS. Some people don’t even make it to the driveway and just park on the road. To be fair a lot of garages are too small now for today’s cars. Walking around our estate a fair few have converted garage into rooms now so no garage at all. |

Early on in FL2 ownership I did try putting my FL2 into my home garage. I then had to drive it back out as I could not open any doors.

Get 2 cheap glasses of different magnification. Sit one on top of the other, they will overlap, & then you have trifocals. I do this for close-up work when sick to death swapping glasses. I just let the mechanic fix the car. But the modifications I don't mind doing myself. No room in our garage, was built in the 1950s. Before buying the Freelander I marked all the dimensions on the garage floor. Also measured the driver's door opening. Will only open to the halfway notch. Just as well the mirrors fold electrically.
