Buyed crashed Freelander 2, 2010 MY at winter 12/2022
car stood long time on previous owner about 4 years
assume he buyed car about 2018 but didnt manage to repair car



There was minor damages front of car, impact whit some animal to lower part of front bumper.





Visual damages:
- Ac condenser
- Radiator
- Fan
- radiator support beam bended









Airbags / safety devices:
- Steering wheel airbag
- Knee airbag
- passanger dashboard airbar
- drivers side seat belt + tensioner
confirmed whit iCarsoft LR V2.0 for LandRover/Jaguar



Daily looked used / new parts from websites / ebay

Started to repair front damages at spring 2023 when ive got most of parts collected

new Ac condenser buyed from ebay, came from france, Nissens 940043
Someway catalogs shows it should be 940044 but i managed to fit 940043 There was slighty differences on dimensions between those 2 condensers. Broke one of black clips on radiator when installed condenser. Clip holds condenser, There are few more left
new radiator from local part seller
new intercooler from local part seller & found used one from brakeyard very cheap, so i didnt use new one at all. That hangs now unused

First i needed to dismantle everything from front



after that i needed to bend radiator support holders and used my running freelander as fixing point
heated whit gas torch

Shows how little damage a car needs to be written off. If you have the time, facilities and don't mind getting stuck in there's going to be bargains to be had. Well done on taking up the challenge on this motor.

Started to dismantle dashboard now, not so bad afterall.
Now its totally loose and what I noticed its easier to remove when center console is away.

But now im stuck.

Steering wheel is underway and its slight rotated to left.
I am afraid to undo steering wheel if I can't get it to same position including clockspring where it was. do anybody know is there any centering marks or tips for this? Or is it just easy to only pull out steeringwheel whitout touching clockspring. many says that there is sprockets, but what i found on pictures there is no " actual sprockets, "

Then I think my automatic gearknob is little underway to, its on P. It would be better to get it to N or totally remove the knob
Edit: I found instructions to take it apart. You need to twitst leather / dust part where it attaches to knob to anticlockwise and pull hard knob upwards.

Tips to remove knob or switch it to N whitout powering car?
Edit: Found that there is emergency switch under front of knob, yellow what you need to press.

Edit: I have taken out airbag control module, all connectors from dash. Should i try connect startbutton and keyslot holder and put power on and straighten steering and put to N,
but does it start or go to limp mode then at this point?

Ive raised courage and took the steering wheel of, it was held TX50 bolt and very careful took it away.
Before taking them i marked Bolt and steering wheel - Axle whit pencil that i can put it back where they were.

didnt find any " center " markings on clockspring, but i made from wood quick lock to it so i wont move freely while taking off dashboard. What do you think about this woodblock

i wanted also take away steering column covers to get wiper sticks from wheel away to get more room for dashboard.

also i pushed automatic gearbox emergency " yellow button " switch to get from P To D get more space

One cable was so annoyin which was left, don't know what its but its in front of dash, middle near windscreen, while trying to figure out how to remove it. Made new name for it : Fukker!
you can't take connector away, you need to push it outwards before taking connector. In picture it has Green on it

HUH! finaly dash is off and now i can start installing new one! lets see when i start again.

i have taken videos of every part and screw what i have removed, it would be fun to make video from all material

Nice to hear! ive managed to instal new VIN Sticker to dashboard, but i failed to fit it to correct spot. its slight more to right corner, but it doesnt matter anyway. Finland MOT told that it isnt nessessary what is on windscreen. Lasy to remove dashboard outside of car and put new one, i have 2 stickers left. Maybe someday when windscreen is broken it is easy to just put new sticker on it.

Fitted new dashboard inside the car, and i will next time route the cables to right place before putting anyscrews.

What would be good place to Erase Airbag control module from crash data? suggestions? What I have understand what needs to be done is read eeprom and rewrite whit new file whit 0 number or something like that

Googled and found alot of companys in uk, but they want shipping whit insurance and quick looked dhl and it gave me huge price over 700euros to one way

Probably best notto display your vin number on a forum. I suggest removing that image from your post and gallery images.

Some criminals use VIN and VRM to "clone" other vehicles that may have been stolen or used in criminal activity. Brilliant work. 2013 FL2 XS.

Now i have installed allmost everything Back, what im missing is seat belt and buckle.

What i dont know, what happens If i Power car now? Do airbags deploy!?

Should i put Back airbag ecu, that i have not reseted

Option 1, start car whitout airbag ecu? Will it start or go some crashmode and won't let start anymore

Option 2. Put Airbag ecu in, and start and see If they deploy?

Option 3. Instal last missing parts ( belt and buckle, and send ecu to reset and fit all at once and hope best. )

Got airbag ecu reset for 150€ and plugged it back and started car.

I was afraid If airbags deploy!

Horaah, horaah! car works perfectly!

Now i can rest while and start installing missing interior parts and Look for bumper!
