Actually the Cooper is very good to drive. The chassis is set up just right for the power, which is why my sister is on her 4th. But she never owns them, and wouldn't. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

Is there a problem actually owning one?
If you buy one and sell it again before the warranty expires, then buy another new or newish
one to replace it Is there something I am missing here?

Is it somehow cheaper to get one on pcp than just buying it for cash?

I would think pcp is popular as nobody has money on the hip nowadays.

If for example the car is 25k

After 3 yrs it’s worth 15k

Cost to own it for 3 yrs is 10k

Does it cost less than 10k to get one with pcp for 3 years?

Without PCP (or similar) far fewer new cars would be sold as most people simply buyers do not have the spare cash to buy the new car they desire and or if they did it would have to be a much lesser model. Jules

Lease or pcp , call it what ever it’s still debt. When I was growing up it was only gamble what you can afford to loose and never a borrower nor a lender be.

People who buy cars with borrowed money buy more expensive cars.

People who buy cars with cash buy the cheaper model that they have budgeted for & actually own it & can drill holes in it because it is theirs to modify.

Our current car was actually ordered for a buyer who needed finance, which ultimately fell through. We bought the car with cash (like all previous cars), & because for our purposes it had a terrible registration date. We ask for it to be de-registered & re-registered (blue slip in Australia) at a more appropriate date (had to be stored for a few months) so we could travel to Europe.

A car is burnt money. As least only burn cash so you are not on the borrowed treadmill.

The car is there to be "abused", which can only be done if you actually own it. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!
