Strange the plug would melt like that but the bulb be ok. Nice work around though good luck with the test. |

I suspect the burning issue is dependent on how many bulbs have been replaced over the plug's lifetime. These high power connectors only have a life of a set number of insertions before the spring pressure begins to reduce, causing higher resistance and overheating.
