Failure of Haldex electronic control unit

Not my Freelander but my wife's VW Tiguan but it could equally apply to any haldex equipped car.

It's a 2013 Tdi 4motion now with 174000 miles on it, owned from nearly new. Its haldex has stopped working previously and annoyingly it does not bring on a fault light on the dashboard, only sign is when it spins the front wheels.

Haldex oil change and pump screen clean has fixed it previously but this time it wasn't dirty oil.

Autel AP200 code reader (good bit of kit for £50) showed fault codes of:
02248 Valve for controlling clutch operating angle defective and 00003 control module defective.

A bit of googling revealed that the control unit was pretty much scrap as a result. These from VW are about £800.
Came across a company on ebay called Auto Fault Finder who specialise in repair of haldex control modules who charge £159 to test, repair and reseal the unit and return it to you. They offer a 'no fix no fee' policy.

Took the module off the car and found that something which sounded like sand was rattling about loose inside the casing which didn't sound too good.

Sent it off by 24h recorded delivery anyway. They received it the following day and phoned with the bad news that the circuit board was excessively corroded and beyond repair so offered to return it foc, or for a further £90 to install new circuit board. Went with the new board. It was returned the following day cleaned and resealed.

I fitted it to the car today, cleared previous fault codes and pleased to find '4 wheel driveyness' has been restored.

So a £250 fix all in. (Not including my obviously free labour)

Pleased with the service so happy to give a shout out.

Superb, good fix! Better to repair, too many people just buy whole new items.
