HID conversion kits - installation photos anyone?

Planned on doing this a couple of years back but wasn't 100% happy with the kit so sent it back.

Any hoo, have now got fed up with replacing bulbs & also having to replace one of the plugs where it had melted due to over heating of the bulb.

Just wondering whether any of those who have fitted the HID Stealth (ABD) kit could post photos of how they got all the kit inside the headlamp unit please?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,
I didn't take any photos while installing them unfortunately.
Basically the large waterproof cover at the rear of the headlight is taken off, the ballast or driver fits inside it along with the new wiring harness. There are no external new wires visible.
I connected everything and made sure they were working before putting all the cables and ballasts inside.
It's pretty straightforward.

Same, I didn't take any photos sorry. But as Bob says there is a large rubber cover on the back of the headlight unit which gives good access to the inside of the unit, and there is plenty of space to fix the HID control units inside with the double sided tape provided (there's 2 units in each headlamp). They provide new wiring which just plugs into the socket for the HB3 lamp.

Ahhhh! I hadn't considered mounting it all inside the actual unit - my kit came with instructions to drill a hole in the back cover and use the included grommet. Would have been much tidier! FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - so many issues

Now greatly regret selling the Outlander. MPG of the FL2 is atrocious and so are the fuel bills. Fun though 😎
Couldn’t afford the fuel bills so back to an older Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Significantly better than I remembered it to be…

I too mounted all my Stealth parts inside each lamp unit - they look completely OEM from the outside.

I found the new HID bulb unit to be slightly loose in the HB3 socket so I slightly bent some of the supporting metal strips to grip the HID bulb unit tighter.

If Ive got time tomorrow I'll take some pics. Jules

Bit of duct tape over the holes would seal it again. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

Thanks Jules, I fitted mine today. Not sure they're as neat & tidy as yours though?!

Did you find the HID bulbs to be slightly loose in the holder - I did and had to adjust my HB3 holders to give them a firm hold.

What did you think about the new lighting ? Jules

Not driven it myself, it's SWMBO's car, but did get a message from her to say "Wow, bright lights!"

No doubt I'll get to experience them myself at some point.

Meantime it's about time I got around to fitting the xenon headlights to my D4, oh and the combined fog/DRLs lights I've had sat in the box for a while too...

Quick update.

Difference with the HIDs is literally 'night and day' - SWMBO is well pleased! (I've still not been able to drive it in the dark to see for myself though.)

And, today, it has gone through the MOT with them fitted and not a mention from the tester - who failed it on worn out rear brake pads though so had to get them replaced before a new test was issued Crying or Very sad
