Just paid £395. 2010 HSE auto. Only car, live in a rural area. Car is a must.
On top of that, insurance renewal is £552. Now 81 ,so they get us oldies every way.

Yes, my insurance has rocketed by over £100 and that's after shopping around!
annoyingly I do far less miles than 10 years ago.......And I'm not even eighty..Yet, well close. Censored DAVE.

So Billsy, you’d spend a few thousand on a different car to save a couple hundred on tax??

Not at all.
Just seems silly money to pay for less than 2000miles of driving on roads that resemble the surface of the moon.

Yes we only have it for towing the caravan, hence why it will be sorned in the winter. So the mileage to tax costs is out of scale

The auto must be different. Just received my reminder as well £320. Mine is a manual.

Yes automatic must be more expensive as we’re automatic.

Mine is automatic and the same £320 per year. There seems to little coherence with VED at first glance Rolling Eyes

Note the discrepancy in First Registered Date and MoT test date too… I have owned this car from long before its first ever MoT test became due and the test date has always been a month later than the registration anniversary date.
but the test date is a month later?.my tax is £320 as well,,2009 e stop start manual.

I know but I don't know why it is a month later - just an unexplained oddity.

Normally, a valid MoT test certificate is required from the third year registration anniversary date - in my case, 8th November 2016 - and then on the same date each year thereafter. (The car has been continuously taxed since first registration and annually MOT tested since late 2016 - it has never been SORNed).

I doubt it. I would have thought that most of the older ones being traded-in will be going for scrap/export rather than sold on the local market. 2005 D3 2.7 Auto
