Towing Electrics Help

I have a Sept 2012 FL2 that I need to buy towing electrics for. As far as I’m aware there are 2 types, <10>10/2012, however I’m getting conflicting info as to which type I need.

I’ve had people tell me that the earlier type has been wrong even for their 2011 models?

Anyone have any experience on which type is required for my car?

I’ve attached a photo of the plug on my car.

Actually there were 3 different JLR towing looms. Ive had all of them on my 3 FL2s.
The early ones are now difficult to acquire and require activating by JLR as well as having to install various bits. The middle one was easier but required JLR to turn off the parking sensors when reversing whilst hooked up. I never bothered doing it.
The most recent (2013) is entirely plug n play.

Many people go to PF Jones for looms.

Yours might be the middle or the later one I suppose. I cant tell from looking at the plug as its 7 years since I installed mine. Check with JLR dealership using the VIN or contact PF Jones. Jules

You cannot tell from the plug as it is the same for all years
The pre update electrics need a module in the loom and the later ones it is just straight wiring from that plug to the trailer socket
I tried my 08 electrics in my 13 plate when I bought that but although they plugged straight in they didn't work
Also all the electrics will need a couple of fuses adding to the cars fuse box to make work
The only thing that doesn't work unless activated is the parking sensor shut off when you have a trailer plugged in but you can just hit the button instead
