Bluetooth module test

Afternoon all, I am having issues with the battery on my truck (2011 plate) draining, I have pulled the fuse that runs the Bluetooth and the battery is now holding charge. So thinking I may have found the gremlin. Is there a way of testing the BT unit for a fault.?

Also should the stereo and reverse sensors stop working when that fuse is pulled, are they all linked?

The fuse should have two small exposed metal tabs by probing those tabs with a Volt meter and measuring the voltage you should be able to determine if current is flowing to the module.

Pretty sure it is, as when I pull the fuse things stop working. Also if I disconnect the battery charge it then reconnect the unit shows as working for about 5 minutes, then the stereo turns on and cuts out the back in a few times.. I'm no auto electrician. But something isn't right haha

I Bypassed my broken Bluetooth module and the Satellite radio module in my LR2


I don't think that you have the Satellite radio module that we got in the US but the bypass method is the same for both modules.

- Purchase a MOST Female loopback

- Get access to the module

- Disconnect the fiberoptic connection and install the Loopback

- Disconnect the electrical connection

- Have a Pint and stop thinking about the battery drain

The last step is the most important

I've had many a pint and left the tuck on trickle charge haha. But now wanting to drink without the cost of charging battery haha.

I take it that your battery is fighting fit.

The FL2 is well known for being unable to work once the battery is more than a few years old.

My experience is that the FL2 is very reliable AS LONG AS YOU KEEP A GOOD BATTERY IN IT.

Before you start disabling your FL2's electrical systems, look at the battery, or get a charger/booster to deal with the bad days.

Battery tested as "good"

Supplier not interested in taking it back as test shows good.. but sat at 85% of it's 800 capacity. They just say charge it..

You will see that my supplier gave me a similar answer ( and also the AA man said just keep it an eye on the battery and keep it charged).

As you can read I decided to keep the 'good enough' battery for now, but buy a good quality charger and a lithium booster - just in case.

I still feel that you are treating the symptoms (or doing a 'work-around') rather than addressing the problem of a battery which is (like me) only 80% efficient. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)

So the Bluetooth unit has not worked properly for a few years, would work then would cut out. Landrover told me it was due to me having a Sony mobile phone and the unit not being compatible, so it falls over itself.

I have lived with it for a long time until I just got fed up having to charge it every two days. So I get battery tested and a few other bits checked, checked both earth's etc.

Then decided to just remove the BT fuse from the boot/trunk. Since doing that over two weeks ago I've not lost charge in the truck. I won't be using it for a 4 day period this weekend so that will show if it's just coincidence or not.

So four days sat on the drive with the fuse for BT sat in the centr console. Started first time....

Now you need to evaluate you Charging System and Battery to make sure that the Battery still has sufficient capacity and the Alternator is doing its part.

See the recommendations from Ian that is a good place to start.

Will give the batter a full charge and then test it to see how it fairs.
