Jerky take off - HSE Lux auto

Has anyone experienced when you come to a stop in the car at a set of lights for example and just hold your foot on the brake in drive or in stop/start traffic and then pull away, the car does a jerky take off (with a bit of a clunk)? The workaround is put it in neutral and then just engage drive before actually taking off for now, but a bit of a pain.
