You could always fit a new Heat Shield, you won't get much change out of £90, that's if you fit it yourself. |

I could always buy some big washers, re-fit the old one. Don't know whether I could get to the bolts without taking the exhaust off though?

Considering the heat shield does not protect the tank. Have decided to leave it off. Was a piece of junk anyway Think silver/alu foil would have been a better choice Landy has now gone. |

Mine went this morning. Quick look the heat shield was laying loose on top of the rear box. Had to send SWMBO off to work with the rattle as was in my Jimjams.

Seems they use the same stuff on all sorts of cars and it always falls off! I did a Hi-lux the other day with the same issue. Re-fitting with big washers is the way to go. John

Thanks, might be tempted, if the refitting wasn't a big job or disturbing the exhaust.

Thanks, this one is just resting on top of the back box. It makes a fair rattle as nothing is holding it on, but SWMBO wouldn't take my car, so off she went rattle and all. No donut I'll get told to do something when she comes in at 6pm. |

Hi - discovered mine loose 2 weeks ago Did a quick fix by using some thinnish wire - held the shield back in place and then strung the wire ( wrapped round the original fixings ) from one fixing to next in a sort of diagonal pattern, then longways from side to side - checked it at the weekend and is holding good so far ! Wire was thin enough to get part way under the fixings Freelander 2

Thanks, might be the way. I had a look and the little metal pegs are rusted, some off completely. The heat shield is corroded so there arnt any holes left so to speak. The back and sides seem easy to get to, but there are a couple of pegs towards the front that are hidden by the rear axle.

Done this on my daughter's Renault and wife's Peugeot. Big enough washers fix anything. Also had an exhaust bracket fail, fix with jubilee clip. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
