We had the same problem with a noise from the front of our 09 MY and that turned out to be the alternator pulley bearing worn replaced the alternator and been perfect since.

Had my mechanic look at it today. He thinks it's the tensioner on the belt or the belt, just getting prices now for parts. Thanks guys for the response 👊😉 |

If he thinks it's the tensioner, then he could be mistaken. A faulty overrun pulley on the alternator will often make the belt tensioner oscillate, which looks like the tensioner at faulty, but more often than not it's the alternator pulley. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

If the belt is oscillating its worth changing the Alternator Pulley, its a common problem on the FL2. As far as I know it is worse as the engine slows on the over-run. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011) FL2 Metropolis SD4 Auto 2014 2017- (16k - 77k+ miles) (MY2015) Metro in its 11th Year of (Extended) LR Warranty / Full LR Service History (Expensive, but Trouble/Worry free - hopefully?) |
