Here again for some much needed advice please.

I had the Clutch (and DMF Flywheel) replaced on my 57 plate FRL2 last week.
After the mechanic had done the job - he remarked on 'hand-over' something like "oh by the way you've got a worn synchromesh haven't you,....particularly on 3rd"? Which I thought was odd.

Now, since new clutch, every gear change into 3rd (unless I really lag over it) crunches so bad I'm expecting to leave metal on the road behind!! it's that bad.
It was not crunchy before.

The mechanic is saying everything he's done has not affected this - other than allegedly when they drained the box oil is was 'silvery'.

Has anybody else experience of this?

He did say adding LUCAS Oil Stabiliser to the gearbox could ease matters.
Meanwhile, my local car spares shop 'Mr Know it all' (whom I probably trust more than the Mechanic, says that as 1st & 3rd gear mechs are usually on the top of the box,.....maybe the box is not even topped up to the max level?
Any ideas?

I can't even see (without ramp access) how I could check the box oil levels?
