Various electrics not working

So my recently purchased Freelander has a number of electrical problems, which I believe are probably linked. The ones i'm interested in and are currently not working, are the windows (except for the front passenger, when operated from the passenger side control) the interior lights, and the electric mirrors. Also, the rear windscreen wiper, and the left half only of the heated windscreen, but i'm not too bothered about them.

I took the drivers door card off, and wiggled around the wiring, and for a short time, all windows, interior lights and mirrors worked as they should. Took car for short drive and they stopped again.

My question is, what could be causing the problem? I am guessing its not worth replacing the control module, as they wouldn't have worked at all if that was shot? More likely a plug or wiring issue? Also fairly happy its not a fuse, as again, it wouldn't have worked for that short period if it was a fuse.

Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem, and can offer some advice.

Must be loose/corroded connection somewhere, the fact it all worked when you waggled the wiring in the door must lie there somewhere? I would take the door card of again and unplug every connector you can find and spray with contact cleaner or similar. 2013 FL2 XS.

Thanks for your reply. That's what I was thinking it must be. I shall get some contact cleaner then. I assume it is the blue plug that plugs into the window switch control, which looked fine when I took it out, but I will try spraying it. Cant see any kinks or obvious corrosion.

If that doe's not sort it it could be the window switch itself?? 2013 FL2 XS.

Do you think that’s likely? Would that affect the internal lights and mirrors?

There have been some reports lately of breakdown of insulation of older FL2s wiring.

Would it be worth separating/checking the loom going into the door and insulating any dodgy/cracked wiring.

Also, in my experience the windscreen heater is set up for LHD and the drivers side seems to ramp up well after the passenger's on UK cars.

The mirror and windows are all part of one block of switches/module though cannot say if it would affect the int lights ?

The Interior Lights are controlled from the CJB and/or signals from the 5 Door Modules plus other feeds eg 'Unlock'. (Explained P1952 and elsewhere in the Repair Manual example below)

Operation of the interior lighting system, with the exception of the door and mirror lamps, is controlled by the CJB. Door and mirror lamp operation is controlled by the relevant door module.

In order to control the interior lighting system, the CJB receives inputs from the 4 door latch switches and the liftgate release motor. The system also interacts with the central locking system, illuminating the interior lamps and the mirror lamps on receipt of an unlock request. This request is transmitted to the CJB from the Radio Frequency (RF) receiver.

The front and rear roof mounted interior lamps contain a 3 position rocker switch. Automatic (Courtesy) operation of the lamps can be overridden by moving the switch to the 'always on' or 'always off' position.

If 'Courtesy' lighting is active and a hinged panel is left open, the CJB will extinguish all interior lamps after a period of 15 minutes. If a manual request for interior lighting has been made, the CJB will extinguish the lamps after a period of 30 minutes.

Pressing the light symbol on the remote handset will activate the 'Approach Lamp' feature. When activated, the CJB illuminates the mirror lamps and a number of exterior lamps.

Window Lift is explained around P2232

All these Ccts are closely monitored --- have you checked for OBD Fault Codes ?

Although separating and insulating the 'Known Dodgy' wiring is the best first move. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)
