Possibly the front ptu (basically the front diff). The splines in these can wear unfortunately. Another 'maintenance free item' according to Landrover but oil in it should be changed just like the rear diff. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

If he had metal to metal, i.e. no friction lining on the brake pads. It would be present all the time and more than likely only be noticeable when the brakes are applied. Yeah not discs or pads all replaced last service.The offside drives shaft was replaced last year it sounds like it's from that area, maybe I'll have a peek round there but with it being intermittent it's a . |

Thanks for the input chaps, bit of rubbish diagnosis on my part, it's not a drop in power the revs actually increase but its a loss of drive, it seems to happen after about ten mins of driving loss of drive Metallic noise from o/s front then slows down, keep the revs low for a while and in a lower gear and it's fine again trouble is being intermittent it's a swine to fault find. |
