Programing a remote from another vehicle

Just bought a 2011 LR2 with only one key. I had an older key from a 2008 which dealer agreed to program as part of the purchase deal. Dealer tried and said that the programming failed since the key belonged to another vehicle. Said that they could not program a new key because the body control module was "offline" Thinking that they want to sell me a new ECM. Is it possible to program the key from another vehicle?

The key doesn't know what vehicle it operates, the vehicle simply needs to be programmed to recognise the replacement key. Are they using the correct equipment? Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

IORC, the process is to tell the vehicle to forget ALL keys. Then program the two keys to match that vehicle. ??

^^^ This is my understanding even with SDD, all must be reprogrammed when adding one. I've not actually had to do it.

You need a good working key to communicate with the ECU, then programme a virgin un-programmed key, you then have two good ones.

However I lost both keys, don't ask, and had to call an Auto Key Tech out. He had a a pro key programmer unit.

When the unprogrammed key is put in the slot it is normally ejected, he just held it in then started the programmer unit to programme as normal. It worked.

I have also programmed virgin keys myself using the AP 200 code reader. without needing to clear the ECU

Keyslot?

Do anybody have knowledge about keys slot where you put your key on dashboard.

I'm swapping damaged dashboard new ( used one ) do I need to take key slot from old dash and install it to this new one?

Or what reads the key and accepts it?

I'd like to know before doing if it won't recognize my keys

The slot in the dash is just like a dumb card reader, which sends the key ID to the ECU. The recognition of the key is done by the ECU.

Agreed with above^^^. I had an auto start system installed for the LR2 when I bought it used and if I use that system, I don't have to have the key in the slot (I have a 2008) just in proximity or in the vehicle.

Not according to the LR manual. The key dock contains the start control module, which along with several other modules are responsible for authorising or rejecting the key code. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.
