Radio signal

Has any one fixed the very poor radio fm and dab signal by adding a booster or the likes . Don't wanna really change the head unit just want the radio to work properly.

The factory antennas already have booster units built in, so maybe there's an issue with them, although as the DAB and FM use completely different receivers in different locations, so both being effected is strange. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

As Nodge says as far as signal reception goes, FM and DAB are separate systems.

Is this a new problem or is it just the fact that you live in a poor reception area.

Try enquiring on Google to see if anyone is getting similar radio reception problems in your area, there may be maintenance going on at your transmitters. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)

Fm works not as good as old car but works dab is rubbish . Would a complete by pass work so unplugging the rear window antenna and buying an aftermarket receiver block and antenna work ?

Sounds about right for DAB.
Portable DAB radios are normally more sensitive than vehicle and home based DAB.
Mine is also pretty useless, as has been every DAB equipped vehicle we've had.
I tend to use FM, which normally has a better audio dynamic range anyway. Did you know that most DAB stations are also only in Mono?
DAB really isn't worth the time or hassle IMHO. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

Its not so much the sound as keeping our favourite stations as we looking going away around the county . Fair dos am more than happy with BBC radio 2 . But the little one loves heart north east and the likes . Hence wondering if a aftermarket dab+ could be added or is it not that simple

Never had a problem with mine anywhere except DAB which is poor in heavily built up areas and out in the sticks, never took it to Cornwall, Dab was useless on A9 and M74, as was FM in two areas of the M74. The only way both can be affected is the radio earth as all aerials are earthed at the head unit which is the ground plane for the signals my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

Would Heart North East be available away from your local area? accept possibly via the internet. True other Heart stations are available nationwide.

Both FM (90 Mhz) and DAB (200 Mhz) are VHF signals that are generally reasonably short range and line of sight from the relevant mast.

I find that I can get FM relatively easy in most places, DAB normally works ok but has a few more blind spots when away from populated areas. Both experience smooth handovers between masts when travelling in my FL2.

From what you say it may be easiest if you take your Work Radio away with you as it must have more sensitive or better technology.

Very strange but on a happier note the fm is working brilliantly now !!! . Next investigation is the dab mod believe its behind the boot lining ??

This thread about the Media Oriented System Transport (MOST) may be worth a read when dealing with Infortainment system.
It contain an interesting description and how to reset the modules.
