Tailgate switch genuine or aftermarket?

The usual problem of defective tailgate switch has reared its head again!

I have replaced 2 of these previously, using after market switches. Each have only lasted about a year.

My question is, is the genuine part actually any better quality and likely to last any longer? Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

I replaced the boot switch with a aftermarket one. It lasted a week and then I chose to replace it with a genuine one. It's been on about a year. The company I bought it off said I had been unlucky and that they never getting anyone returning them but I veer towards genuine parts now where I can afford to.

Mine was done by the main stealer 4 years ago under warranty and it’s still working fine. I hope that isn’t tempting fate Shocked 64 plate TD4 SE Santorini Black

Does anyone have the LR part number for the tailgate switch for a 2013 post facelift model?

I think they are different from the earlier version. Plenty of places Inc Powerful UK sell the earlier version but I can't find the later one. I assume the difference is in the wiring loom?

Thanks for that.
Not sure I really want to be soldering in this weather - I don't have a garage!

Have come across two part numbers

Lr079909. This seems to be the one which fits 2006 - 2012

Lr083610. Perhaps this is for 2013 - 2015. Although some sources say it fits all FL2s

There is also mention of a different part for vehicles fitted with a factory reversing camera?

Anybody with a definitive answer on this this
Thanks FL2 SD4 XS 2013 Orkney Grey

BOB,

It doesn't rain that much where I live and no snow so no salted roads.

My switch is original from 2008.

And I don't even have the replacement part on the shelf (waiting for the day that it fails)

Instead I went a different way.

My vote is original, your time has to be worth something

Take care
