If its only a small chip I'd be happy to have it repaired, as long ss it's not in immediate line of sight. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

When I had company cars I had chips repaired three or four times on very nice spec BMW and Audi cars , as the fleet only had third party insurance . There was no detriment to the windscreen , I couldn’t see the repairs . I’ve just had a new windscreen put in a Suzuki Swift , using Autoglass who are the insurer’s recommended repairer , it was £20 excess for a repair , £90 for a new screen. 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

The original screen will be marked LandRover Pilkington, and aftermarket screen won't.

You can buy kits to repair them yourself. |

I had a stone chip in my windscreen. Thought nothing of it, really. But decided to get one of those DIY kits and had a go at repairing it myself. It looked great - you really had to strain your eyes to see the repair. However, it wasn't until winter that I found I'd lost the heated screen function. I bought a genuine NOS Land Rover heated screen off Ebay and had a local fitter sort it for me.

All I can say is don't leave it too long before getting a repair - dirt can enter the crack and can't be removed and then the repair won't be invisible.

Previous car had a stone chip out the way but was pretty big but didn't get larger. After many years got the windscreen replaced, within a month got 2 new stone chips fairly in field of view, typical. They didn't get bigger & just lived with them.
