manual gearbox issue help

ok, so my 80yr old dad contacted me to tell me the landy 2007 2.2 manual i gave him broke down today. He says it was driving fine and he went for the next gear and couldnt select it,then couldnt get any gears? clutch was replace at 150K some 20k ago.Any tips or advice on what it could be ? he says there was no noise or warning to it failing.
I wondered if the slave or master could have gone but he says pedal feels ok, selection issue ,are the gears controlled by cables from the g.stick? any advice welcome

There are 2 cables between the gear lever and box. Get him to try selecting gears with the engine off, to see if they engage. If they do it'll be clutch related, if not it'll be something between the bottom of the gear lever and the box. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

so managed to see the car, i can select all gears with engine on or off so i dont think it a linkage issue.cables moving at the gearbox end under the bonnet, clutch pedal feels ok,some resistance. Its very strange,i started the car clutch down and selected every gear with clutch up and down and nothing ,no drive no sound ,nothing? help welcome

Have a look at the quadrants while a helper is moving the gear lever into each gear in sequence.
You should see the cables pushing and pulling the quadrant levers on the top of the box.
If not it could well be the mechanism below the lever.
Mine became sticky for a while, but it fixed itself before I had a chance to investigate. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

hi ,thanks for replying, i looked under the bonnet whilst my dad went throught the gears, and the cable ends moved and shifted the levers on top of the box,is there anything inside that box on top of the gearbox that could cause anything like this

Below the quadrants inside the box are the selector forks, but I can't see how those would fail to work, especially as there are 2.
It's sounding like either a serious internal failure of the box has occurred, or maybe the clutch driven plate has broken in some way. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.
