I checked mine at 24000 km and it was just at minimum. Filled 1 liter oil, because 2 week later I had my 25000 km service check, where all oil was changed. Freelander 2 SE 4Td Izmir Blue, Dog cage for Alaskan Malamute, iphone Navigon Navigator |

Mine needed about 1/2 litre after about 5000, not needed a top up since annual service at 10000 now at 13000. So it has used less oil that my previous Audi did. My ford ranger never needs topping up but that engine was made before the dinosaurs and is a unrefined heap of and it gets a service every 6500 anyway At work

New to the forum, which I have found very interesting and informative. My Freelander 2 Petrol has now done 11500 kilometres and has needed no oil at all. This is probably just as well, since the grade of oil specified by Land Rover in Australia - 0W 30 - is not available at retail outlets and is not actually used at service times by the four Land Rover dealerships I have spoken to. For the interest of anyone else reading in Australia, Land Rover Australia say that Castrol Edge 5W 30 is OK. On a more general note, the car has been completely fault free (so far!) and we're very pleased we chose this, our first Land Rover. For interest, it replaced an H6 Subaru Outback which had no replacements, other than service items and a battery, over 6 years and 160000 kilometres, so the Freelander has got something to live up to, but so far shows every sign of doing so. |
