Hi all.
I’ve had a search but can’t find anything that resembles the noises I’m hearing on my auto TD4. Does anyone know?
It sounds like a valve opening and closing, like a waste-gate, just as you expect it to change gear, but it does it even when in manual and hold the gear. Doesn’t judder, smoke or hesitate and doesn’t happen if you accelerate quickly. I guess I’m a little concerned that it’s the auto box, or turbo, or EGR or vanes or whatever, but it’s becoming more and more noticeable.
Anyone any ideas?

So, I fitted the EGR plate as I suspected it was the EGR opening and closing, causing the turbo vanes to modulate and make this rhythmic drop in power with turbo boost offload. Well I’m pleased to say that I was right and it’s no longer lagging, chuffing, dropping in power, and after two tanks of fuel, I’m getting another 9 mpg doing exactly the same driving.
