You would find it hard to swap to an electric HP pump, as the pressure is too high for a 12 volt electric pump. I don't know of any common rail diesels that use an electric HP pump, so you'd be unable to find one. 24,000 PSI is a lot of pressure, which is why the pumps are driven by the engine. The problem is that the existing pump does two jobs.
