conversion on a td4 to a electric fuel pump

Hi everyone ,trev from australia here thanks for adding me .Just a bit of a odd query .i have the broken cam problem on my 07 lr2 . has anyone done a successful swap to a electric fuel pump so they dont need to worry about that again.

You would find it hard to swap to an electric HP pump, as the pressure is too high for a 12 volt electric pump. I don't know of any common rail diesels that use an electric HP pump, so you'd be unable to find one. 24,000 PSI is a lot of pressure, which is why the pumps are driven by the engine. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

The problem is that the existing pump does two jobs.
1- transfers the fuel out of the tank to the engine - actually sucks it out.
2- boosts the pressure to 24,000 PSI (1,600 bar).

So an electric pump would fulfill the first, but you are unlikely to find an electric pump that can deliver over 70bar let alone 1,600 bar - most deliver only a couple of bar which is fine for fuel transfer Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her
