Key Fob Dock/Slot

I'm having problems with the fob on my Freelander 2, the main issue is that it goes into the slot all the way and then nothing else happens, steering lock stays on, no instrumentation and engine won't start

The key will not eject, I have tried both keys with the same outcome

The car is currently stuck in Glasgow, can anybody recommend someone in the Glasgow area mono f possible that would be able to look at the fob dock/slot

Is the battery ok ? Are the fobs charged ? It’s worth a try disconnecting the battery for a bit and then try again. Old school would be if that doesn’t work try bashing the dash around where the fob goes in.
