Programming/Synching a key fob

Hi All,

I have a Freelander 2 2013 model and am wanting to get a spare key fob programmed and synched.

I have spoken to Land Rover who have quoted me $750 (for the LR original key fob) and $220 for the actual programming.

I have spare key fob but it is an after market fob and is not synched to the car.

I have spoken to a few who have advised they can't do it for that model or that they risk locking the car resulting in an expensive cost to have it towed and then re programmed by Landrover.

Does anyone have any suggestions of a locksmith around Sydney or Wollongong NSW with experience programming Freelanders?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thank You

Hi weiry1
Sorry, I have nothing to help you. Thought I'd assure you you're not being ignored.
As far as I know this is a matter which lands us in the claws of LRA.
Some of our British hosts have spoken of an electronic device which does it, but it isn't common.

You may be better to put your question into the Maintenance and Mods section, or Electrical to get a wider readership.

If you find a solution, make sure you share it. Anything to keep us away from the dealers.

I'd say Graeme Cooper Automotive at Tempe may have the best info.

Cheers

I have used a program called Autel Ap200 runs on adroid software and apple works well and programmed blank virgin keys, if you have a working original. please Note you can not reprogram used keys

Do you not have car key companies in the Antipodes. These people will come out supply a new key and code it for you.

The Autel option is the one and these are readily available on 2 popular e-commerce sites. Blank key is also available. Works well and is easy to do via OBD. You could do it all up for less than $200.
