Upgraded to streaming Bluetooth

Freel2,

I really like the stereo in my LR2 but it never had streaming Music and the original Bluetooth module died recently so I decided to do something about it.

I got one of these.

Kinivo BTC450 Bluetooth Car Kit (Hands-Free Adapter for Cars with 3.5mm Aux Input, Apt-X)

I plugged it into the cigarette lighter power port nearest the shifter and the other end into the AUX input at the back of the center console.

The power is switched on as soon as I start the engine and it connects automatically to my phone and all I need to do is press play on my music app.

It also works really well with the maps on my phone switching seamlessly between driving directions and streaming music.

This adapter doesn't have a battery and therefore it doesn't need to be charged

If I don't play my music but it is connected to AUX there is no annoying hum.

I think the microphone is in the small disc shown in the picture and I currently have that disc in the cup holder and it works horrible in that location. (Which isn't a problem for me since I hate taking calls while driving) I suspect if I moved the disc somewhere more useful that this device would be good for making calls as well.

The cost was not expensive and the quality is excellent.

I am completely satisfied

Take care

Paul

Excellent idea! Interestingly I made a similar adaption this week since my LR Bluetooth never was reliable. Always issues with others not hearing me clearly when I spoke but I could hear them fine, this was seriously annoying to boot.

I got a UGREEN Bluetooth 5.0 3.5mm adapter from Amazon & I also use it for music

I too have this Ugreen device, I got it mainly for the ability to stream music and it does the job well, the built in mic not so much but It’s not a problem, I have the phone on a magnetic charging mount and just putting the phone on speaker works for me.

It would be be better if it didn’t feel the need to loudly announce “connected” every time I get in the car though! Confused

I have the same Kinivo, it works very well. I had a similar one from another brand but sent it back because of the annoying hum. With the Kinivo no hum at all.

I use tasker on my phone to automate it. When the phone makes a bluetooth connection to the Kinivo it starts waze (with the destination set to work during the mornings and to home in the evening, except in the weekend). It also starts an app I wrote myself that streams radio station, the sound of the streaming radio is much better than FM radio.

I don't use it to make phonecalls, bluetooth of the FL2 still works fine.

I leave a lead plugged into the aux and play music like that using iPhone, press aux on head unit and select what music to play on phone.
