What's a steering rack replacement cost in your area?

Hiyo,
So we've just taken our FL2 for a 100k service and they've found the steering rack is leaking fluid everywhere. They say it's probably just the old rubber seals perishing, but recommend just replacing the whole thing. If ordered from LR, $5000 (Australian dollars), if done with a new refurbished one with warranty, $3000 AUD.

Those that have had this, or in the know, how much does this cost in your neck of the woods (understanding every area is going to vary based on many factors, but still handy to get an idea)?

Secondary, is it possible/feasible it's just a simple cheap rubber replacement and doesnt in fact need an entire replacement. We're being told this is just "normal" for a car that old (2013) and isn't covered by warranty.

cheers

I presume thats 100K kilometers - so not much really (only 62k miles) - racks should last much much longer.

Here in the UK a reconditioned OEM rack for RHD is £554 + delivery and the fitting of course - not many sites have the complete racks though.

I would go with replacing the rubbers unless the rack is actually behaving abnormally. Jules

Complete rubbish. The steering rack on these is good for much longer than 9 years and 60k Miles.
My own is rack is 14 years old with 130k miles on it, without any signs of leaking or wear. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

Had mine replaced last year on 145000 miles and 15 years old, supplied and fitted by local old school mechanic for £350.00, seem to remember it's a Ford rack. Common sense isn't very common.
