2010 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto Santorini Black

Detachable Tow Ball

I can't find my detachable bit - heaven knows where I have put it. Got the keys - great!
Can you buy these or do I have to go to LR for it?

Assuming it is a LR original removeable towbar....

Have you checked in the spare wheel well? That's where mine was put by the dealer after showing me how to fit it. Look for a blue cloth bag (if its like mine).

The towbar is made by Brink for LR so either LR or a Brink dealer should be able to help. Never had to buy one but would imagine it won't be cheap.

Jokeing aside, there was one on Ebay about a month ago £35 it made, wondered at the time, why would any one be selling it, then wondered again why would anyone have the need to buy one. p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior

I have heard before that they are quite expensive !!

Cost me £234 - LR wanted nearer £300! I think I will leave it attached (and locked) in the future.

i would place it in the car when not using it

There is a way to unlock it with out a key that doesn't take long at all, a few of the disco3 members have had asked about this method when they have lost their keys

The towbar is in fact marketed by Thule under the name Brinkmatic Advance

No, I wasn't clear
The £234 is for the complete mounting kit but no electrics (does have mounting plates for electrics though) so if anyone needs a kit and can get the hitch separately, I have a brand new one going for a few quid - collect in Derbyshire.

I just did not have the time to try and track down a separate hitch.

Does anyone have any experience of installing the detachable tow bar and electrics? If so, is it a difficult job and do you have to visit a dealer to get the electrics recognised?

Mine's detachable - no cut in bumper!

I would allow yourself about three hours mine is a land rover and in the kit it gave me a template to cut the bumper so you have to allow time to remove the bumper for cutting and to remove the inner panel in the boot to do the electrics
