I have a commercial license that sits just outside the ham 2m/70cm frequencies and have a compact dual band radio that's suitable for the job (previously mounted in my FL1).

I don't really want to replace a perfectly good radio if I can avoid it, but I'm really struggling for ideas on where to mount it. If it had a detachable front it would be a different matter; simply mount the main body in the boot and the fascia on a Brodit or similar, but as it's an All-In-One I can't really get away with that.

Anyone have any bright suggestions for where I might be able to mount it before I reluctantly start researching sensibly priced export radios (or UK moddable) with remote head capability? I may pop the unit apart and see if there is any way to replace the connections from the board to the fascia so it can be run remotely, but I'm not overly hopeful.... Current driveway contents:

I used a 32mm north south pair. My GPS is 300grams. Maybe you need a bit more. If you can't get bigger north south pair, get a larger size, say a 42 x 12mm 37kg, plus a north south pair 32mm & use the correct polarity half.
