Royal Mail Recorded Delivery tracking - useless ?

I was always under the impression that Royal Mail Recorded Delivery was worth paying for.
But recently I sent two items to different addresses using Recorded Delivery. I know both items were delivered within the expected time frame but according to RM tracking neither have been delivered yet (its been about 6 weeks since first sent).
Seems to me the RM tracking system is useless.
I initially rang RM to find out why the items hadnt been delivered. Was told they didn't know but after a month I would be able to pursue a claim.
Anyone had similar poor experience. Jules

I never use Recorded Delivery, but rather the Special Delivery service. It gets the package there by midday the following day and it has to be signed for. If it is valuable, you can choose also to spend a bit extra to insure it.

I've never had a problem using that method.

For large packages I tend to use MyHermes. On our local town messaging service lots of folk complain about them, but again, I've never had a problem with them. Tim

I've not had any problem with updated tracking re Royal Mail to Canada; they are quite efficient with the updates for international shipments. Canada Post international is also pretty accurate but locally, they suck. Now, DHL/FedEx/Dynamite(?) from the UK to Canada, simply amazing. Thumbs Up

He only time we’ve used tracking is when the recipient wants proof of delivery tracking, if something is valuable either monetary or sentimentally we always use RM special delivery, personally I’ve sent hundreds of packages using this method and never had a problem. Regards

David

Lovely i6 has now gone, but not me......

Please let me know if anything in my post offends you, as I may wish to offend you again......
