Another Freelander 2 convert

Well, I took my brother on a 200 mile round trip to look at a 2011 Sport LE today. High miles, but full history including recent full service, cam belt/water pump and lots of receipts for the usual suspects. It's been very well looked after both inside / outside and underneath. Pulls like a train (great test drive) and everything works as it should.
On the way up to the dealer, my bother phoned the previous owner who said, "If you buy it, you've got an absolute bargain", which was enough to put my brother's mind at ease.
After the test drive, I went round it for 45 minutes with a fine toothed comb and I really couldn't find fault with it , with the only exception being no spare wheel, just the crappy electric pump and can of gunk ! So a full sized spare will be the first thing on the list.
Brother was satisfied with my appraisal and he ended up buying it. He drove it home and has been texting me ever since about what a wonderful car it is. I have to agree. It really looked and drove like a car with less than half the mileage on the clock.
Fair price , too. A price I'd be expecting to pay for a 2007/8 model. So it really was the bargain the previous owner said it was.
Didn't get any pics of it, as it was snowing heavily at the time, plus we don't live close to each other and went our separate ways when nearing home.

Good on you and your brother! Thumbs Up Nowt better than buying a new motor, even more so when you've bagged a bargain!
I hope he gets as much pleasure from going places as I've got from my 2 FL2's over the last 12 years.

Thumbs Up My LR2 grew on me really. I am going to keep it going for as long as it's viable. Zero regrets.

I used to use a LR specialist for servicing who serviced my FL1 which I eventually part exchanged though a dealer for an FL2. He mentioned to me that he had received a call from someone asking about my old FL1 and was it OK etc. He said that he often got these sorts of calls but would never comment as it was pointless asking these questions. His view was that if you say it's a great car and things go wrong then he could suffer at best, some reputational damage. On the other hand if he said it's a heap of junk then there might be some comeback from the original seller or dealer. He advised me to limit any responses to "I am not an expert but it seemed to be OK when I had it" 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
5 x FL2 4 manual + 1 auto

..... I once found a previous owner of a 'New' vehicle I purchased.

His name address and contact number was on the dealer service invoice.

Oh the paper trail ......

Ive had that a couple of times before, rung a dealer who had serviced a car i recently purchased to enquire about anything other than the basic servicing which was on their invoice. Only to be told that due to GDPR they couldnt tell me what work had been done.
In every case they had left invoices etc in the folder with the previous owners name, address and telephone numbers on and in one case even left a credit card receipt with full card details on it.
