EGR coolant leak

Hi. First time poster here and relative newbie to the FL2 - just coming up on 2 years of ownership

My FL2 SD4 has developed a coolant leak, seemingly from behind the block - It seems to vary how much it drops.

My initial thoughts were the EGR and after investigating i can confirm it is coming from the EGR assembly. What struck me as strange was the location - it is leaking from where the pipe flange bolts to the main EGR assembly. I have attached photos as best I can.

My question is, is this a typical place for these to fail? And is it likely that the leak is also internal, based on the location shown?

Is this likely that I'll need to replace the entire EGR, or is it a gasket issue that can be locally replaced/repaired

I'm pretty sure no coolant passageway goes through that gasket.
It only connects to the exhaust IN pipe (with a vacuum operated valve) via a thin flange.

The IN and OUT coolant connections are both within the main EGR cooler block.

The EGR unit on my 2014 SD4 ...

I think your leak must be internal. Jules

There is quite a lot about this on the forum - just search EGR
There are 2 different EGR coolers - depending upon VIN.
but just one EGR valve -
