For me, Russia are in full control and will win any outcome. Putin must be laughing his head off at the token gesture objections from the west and apparent support for the Ukraine by NATO.

Nha, Boris will tell him he's an absolute cad and a bounder and Putin will spend several months in self reflection before giving up on the idea.

Dont think its the threat of nuclear war, its the threat of Russia cutting off the fuel to Europe. The use of nuclear weapons would result in similar retaliation and there would be no winners. Jules |

agree with jules, we will be stuffed for gas, another thing that irritates me and maybe a few more (or not) is that as a country when we go on our quest to save the planet, I feel the countries we try to save start to love us, they then think, oh lets go and live on that overcrowded little island full of grumpy old LR2 users 2017 SEAT Ateca 4drive 2.0 xcellence (May 2022 -

We actually don't take that much Russian Gas, the EEC does and that is where the problem rises, for us the price has increased in the places we buy, For the EEC they are scrabbling to buy wherever and have pushed up our prices. my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

Is the ground frozen enough for a Russian occupation? I was under the impression that Ukraine is experiencing a very mild winter? |

I blame Churchill for prosecuting the war against Germany we and the US should have fought with the Germans against Russia after we beat The Nazis while we had both Armies there, would not have been a "cold war" and China would not have been a Communist state today ! 2013 FL2 XS.

Churchill was voted out because he wanted to take on Russia, there wasn't the energy to take on another war either politically by UK and the US nor in the populations, once Russia had nuclear weapons there was no way there would be any war on either side.

No, that was against the Chinese and the US decided against using nuclear weapons, possibly because they were unsure of what the Russians actually had in terms of working nuclear weapons ( bombs) and where they could be deployed, the capability for attacking the US homeland was fairly slight but Europe was a retalitary choice, otherwise the Koean mainland would be a target, but basically a waste of effort, for in those days who would have cared if Korea was iraidiated, though the loss of western service personel would have been politically a problem. The Korean war was another one of western super powers aginst the communist alliance, but the USSR preferred a support role aginst the mainly western supported UN, after the Korean war it became stale mate (MAD) until Putin, whether he will play poker and push it depends on the political responce from NATO and the US, but more sanctions are not the answer, the west needs to lay the nuclear card on the table and persuade Putin the west have a Royal Flush. my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

Looking at the latest in the media, it is looking more likely that an invasion will happen. This could then be followed by a military response from NATO, which in turn risks nuclear war or holocaust.

I think it will be a little less lethal than all out Nuclear War, although potentially as damaging to the man in the street. The last Cold War lasted some 40+ years, and managed somehow to survive it, although the 'important people' believed that they could survive it in their underground shelters anyway. This is a dangerous notion, if everyone believes that they can get hurt then they act a lot more reasonably.
