Been home a couple of days and have realised the Haldex had affected the Auto gear box to such an extent I put a post on the site to ask about doing a reset as it seemed as though it was dropping a gear with a knock, this has now disappeared and another benefit when engaging the hand brake it doesn't kick. Running a bit quieter as well. Austen did say the Haldex was in a pretty poor state and interesting told be they do not seem to like low millage. 2013 88000

I'm contacting Bell next week. I seem to have symptoms consistent with a failing PTU. Only done 53K miles. Big Cry Jules

I asked about Ptu oil changes and they said not really worth it - the oil lasts longer than the metal !

It' likely the metal components don't last so long because the oil stops protecting. Thumbs Up Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

Ive changed the PTU oil at 30k and 50K miles.
Waiting to contact Austen for his opinion as to the source of my FL2's noise.

For those wanting to determine if a "bearing" sound is coming from the rear or the front of the car , its very easy to isolate the rear diff and rear axle by pulling the haldex fuse. This disconnects the haldex (unless your haldex is jammed but that would give different symptoms - skipping on slow tight turns).

I supported the car on the front chassis lift points (not the sill jack points, pulled the FB1 fuse in the boot (2014 fuse locations) and was able to run it as a purely FWD car (letting the power in carefully as there is a lot of rotating mass) and identified that the noise was not from the rear diff or rear axle. It only takes a minute or so to obtain a positive or negative test result.
I chocked the rear wheels and kept the EPB handbrake on (but it may have auto disengaged itself during the test). The older mechanical parking brake would obviously stay on.
You get all sorts of alarms with the FB1 fuse out but they all go away once the fuse is reinserted and you restart the engine and drive a 100m or so. Jules

I'm taking my 2011 TD4 FL2 to Bell tomorrow to have the Haldex serviced. The car has done 95,000 miles and the Haldex has never been touched. It will be interesting to see what they find and if I notice anything different after. Richard M

Is there any recommendations on places to stay up by Bell Engineering please? If it wasn't so bad it'd be funny.
