3.2 Front Brakes

Freel2,

A friend of mine asked me my opinion so I decide to post it here.

Flush the brake fluid every two years

Brake Fluid
ATE Type 200
Dry Boiling point 280C
Wet Boiling point 198C

Bushings

Replace with ATE or any quality name brand

Grease for bushings

Do not use a petroleum based grease it will swell the rubber and the brakes will stick on

Brake Pads

I prefer EBC pads

Green Stuff for spirited driving

Red Stuff if the Green Stuff isn't aggressive enough for you (I do run the Red Stuff on my Audi that has more power and can accelerate significantly quicker than my LR2)

Rotors

No drilling, no slots, none of that

Get a name brand rotor and if they have economy and professional grade get the more expensive ones

Brembo
ATE
Raybestos
EBC

Not going to argue over any of your recommendations other than the brake fluid flush. You could be throwing away perfectly good brake fluid. Any competent mechanic should be able to check on the water content of the brake fluid and decide from that if it needs changing.

Excellent write up Paul, solid part choices! As for the flush, I have done it twice since owning my LR2.............my next flush will be with Motul 5.1 as I used it on a previous vehicle with very good success.
Thumbs Up

I did also replace brake lines with their stainless counterparts.
