Yeh, kind of my thoughts, but if I didn't have the MOT I possibly would have been none the wiser or when the brakes started grinding . Would have expected the dealer to have inspected the brakes and reported on the service. |

Not all main dealers are also MOT stations and simply take the car elsewhere for the MOT .

Yes the dealer didn't MOT but was booked through them same day as service. Looks like mot place picked up low pads but was missed by LR on service. Really surprising as it's usually one of their quick mark ups to say 'brakes need replacing' |

Did you ask the dealer why they did not check the pads during the service ? Moving forward if I were you I would start looking for another garage to take care of the car. |

I wonder if they sent it for the MOT first with the intention of not doing a full inspection but only attending to things flagged at the MOT - but missed the advisory this time. Jules |

I used to go on a BMW 3 series forum . The early E90 3 litre diesels had an air filter which was really awkward to get at and took a lot of labour for a service item.

Further 'investigation' has shown that the pads were on the safety check and marked as amber - meaning won't last until next service- Also marked on dealer records as replacement refused by customer. So mech did his job
