Ignition switched power supply for rear view screen

I use a rear view camera when towing my covered car trailer with the screen mounted on the lower right corner of the windscreen. I want to avoid the trailing lead plugged into a socket in the central console so would like to run an ignition switched power supply to the screen. There seems to be plenty of room behind the dash to run a cable from the passenger side fuse box but where should I make the connection? Is there a spare slot just waiting to have a fuse fitted and a connection made?

P.S. Further searching produced this thread - https://www.freel2.com/forum/topic7797.htm...+supply+f5 - which seems to provide the answer: F5 and a fused fly lead.

Simon, I have used F5 with a fused fly lead to power my forward facing dash cam, so that's the one you should use. -------------------------------------------------------------

Many thanks.

Am I right in thinking that the power comes in to the F5 fuse from the top so therefore the fly lead should be at the bottom?

If you do a search you will find a little mod I did for my dash cam.
If you have a dipping rear view mirror it has a switched supply with, if I remember corectly, nothing else on it.
I bought, off ebay, a small circuit board that converts 12v dc to a usb socket and tucked it up in the roof space where the interior light is.
All you see is the tail of a usb lead exiting by the windscreen, which plugs into and supplies my dash cam.

Thanks for that cunning suggestion but this isn’t for a dash cam but for a screen that I use for the rear view camera on my trailer. So it’s to provide a 12v supply to the right hand corner of the dash so that it’s easy to connect the screen when needed.
